Role Overview
Maroma is seeking a dynamic International Sales, Marketing & Distribution Manager to lead its European market expansion. The ideal candidate will drive sales growth, brand awareness, and operational efficiency while ensuring seamless logistics and distribution. This position requires a strong entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to build and manage relationships with distributors, retailers, and e-commerce partners.
The role involves a mix of strategic planning and hands-on execution across sales, marketing, and operations. The selected candidate will work closely with Maroma’s headquarters in India, ensuring smooth coordination for stock management, invoicing, and product shipments.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Development & Sales
- Expand Maroma’s distribution network in France, Germany, Benelux, and other European countries by identifying and securing new distributor partnerships.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing distributors, retailers, and B2B clients to increase sales and brand presence.
- Develop and execute sales strategies tailored to each region, considering cultural preferences and market demand.
- Set up and manage online sales channels, including platforms like Amazon, ethical online marketplaces, and Maroma’s direct e-commerce site.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to refine sales tactics.
- Provide detailed sales reports and insights to the head office, including sales forecasts, performance metrics, and distributor feedback.
- Ensure smooth order processing, shipping, and payment collection, minimizing delays and optimizing cash flow.
- Distribution & Logistics Management
- Oversee the Maroma distribution facility in Belgium, ensuring streamlined logistics and operations.
- Hire, train, and manage logistics personnel responsible for invoicing, packing, and shipping.
- Ensure optimal stock levels by placing timely orders with Maroma India, aligning supply with demand forecasts.
- Conduct bi-annual stock checks to maintain quality control, ensuring:
- 5% quality check for sea shipments.
- 10% quality check for air shipments.
- Ensure compliance with EU trade regulations for natural and Fair Trade-certified products.
- Optimize shipping and distribution processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Sales & Marketing Strategy Implementation
- Develop and implement a regionalized sales and marketing strategy for Europe.
- Conduct meetings with potential distributors and retail partners to assess collaboration opportunities.
- Create digital catalogs, price lists, and promotional materials in multiple languages to enhance customer engagement.
- Execute online and offline marketing campaigns, including trade shows, influencer collaborations, and sustainability-focused branding efforts.
- Coordinate with Maroma’s HQ in India to ensure brand consistency across all marketing materials and initiatives.
- Monitor customer feedback and buying behavior to improve marketing messaging and engagement strategies.
- Financial & Operational Management
- Oversee invoicing, payment collections, and account reconciliation for European sales.
- Set up and manage local bank accounts to facilitate smooth financial transactions.
- Maintain daily sales and inventory reports using an online tracking system.
- Monitor and optimize profit margins while ensuring competitive pricing across different European markets.
- Performance Metrics & KPIs
- Define monthly/quarterly sales targets for distributors and direct-to-consumer channels.
- Outline KPIs for market expansion, such as new distributor acquisitions, revenue growth, and regional sales performance.
- Establish metrics for customer retention and engagement, including repeat purchase rates, customer feedback, and marketing campaign effectiveness.
- E-commerce & Digital Sales Strategy
- Develop a roadmap to expand online sales via Amazon, ethical marketplaces, and Maroma’s direct e-commerce site.
- Implement strategies to improve conversion rates and customer experience, including personalized recommendations, targeted email campaigns, and a seamless checkout process.
- Optimize Maroma’s SEO and online presence to increase organic traffic and brand visibility.
- Legal & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with EU regulations on cosmetics, fragrance, and fair-trade labeling.
- Oversee export documentation and import duties to streamline international shipping and regulatory adherence.
- Stay updated on trade policies and industry standards to avoid legal complications and enhance market entry strategies.
Candidate Profile
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in International Business, Marketing, Sales, or Logistics.
- 5+ years of experience in international sales, marketing, and distribution, preferably in natural beauty, wellness, or sustainable products.
Language Skills
- Fluent in English (mandatory).
- Proficiency in French, Flemish, Italian, German, or Spanish is a strong advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- Experience in project management, logistics, and supply chain operations.
- Ability to analyze market trends and adjust sales strategies accordingly.
